A Beautiful Sunrise Family Session at Lanikai Beach | Oahu Family Photographer

There is something truly magical about sunrise at Lanikai Beach. With soft pastel skies, calm ocean waters, and the iconic Mokulua Islands in the background, it’s one of my favorite locations for family photography on Oahu.

One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is watching families grow through the years. I first photographed this beautiful family several years ago, and it was such a joy to see them again at one of Oahu’s most beautiful locations. Being invited back to capture another chapter of a family’s story is one of the greatest compliments I can receive.

We met just before sunrise at Lanikai Beach, one of the most stunning beaches on Oahu. The morning greeted us with calm water, soft golden light, and beautiful clouds reflecting across the shoreline. The peaceful atmosphere created the perfect setting for natural, relaxed family portraits.

Their son was full of personality and energy, and we spent the morning capturing a mix of playful moments, genuine laughter, and sweet connections between mother and son. Some of my favorite images from the session are the candid moments of them walking through the shallow water together, sharing hugs, and simply enjoying a quiet morning by the ocean.

As the session continued, we also captured beautiful portraits of Mom and Dad. One of the things I always encourage during family sessions is taking a few moments to focus on the couple as well. These images often become treasured reminders that while family life can be busy, it’s important to celebrate the relationship that started it all.
