Aloha friends,

There’s something truly magical about Judd’s Trail Jackass Ginger Pond during sunset. As the light softens and filters through the forest, every leaf, every tree, and every moment becomes drenched in golden warmth. It’s one of my favorite places to photograph on Oʻahu, especially with its lush greenery and that incredible banyan tree that feels straight out of a fairytale.

This beautiful family met me on the trail just as the afternoon was slipping into golden hour, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. But the real star of the session? Henry, without a doubt!! With his glossy little curls bouncing in the light and his joyful curiosity leading the way, he made the entire session feel playful, sweet, and full of life. He explored the forest floor, collected tiny treasures, and flashed the kind of smiles that melt your heart instantly. Every time the wind caught his curls and the sun kissed his cheeks, it felt like the forest was showing off just for him.

One of my favorite moments was photographing them under the huge banyan tree — its roots twisting like nature’s artwork and its branches creating a natural canopy. The way Henry held onto his parents, the way they looked at him with so much adoration… it created the kind of images that make you stop and breathe it all in.

Sunset at Judd Trail gives families the softest, dreamiest light — that perfect glow that wraps around you and makes everything feel warm and timeless. And this family fully embraced the moment. There were cuddles, laughs, little adventures, and those quiet in-between moments that I love capturing the most.

Sessions like this remind me why I adore photographing families in Hawaiʻi. It’s about freezing the tiny details — the curls, the dimples, the way little hands reach up — and the big emotions that you’ll want to remember forever.
