Today’s blog post focuses on one of Hawaii’s hidden gems, Lulumahu Falls, located in Honolulu, Oahu.

Myself, along with two other friends–one who also a photographer–had the idea of hiking Lulumahu Falls and instead of staying behind the camera as we usually do, we decided to do a session of ourselves in the waterfall.

We were inspired by Lulumahu’s raw and moody look and we wanted to show a natural but elegant look. Hiking there wasn’t easy! It was very muddy since it’s been raining a lot lately, and some parts were a little slippery, but Lulumahu’s beauty and serene sounds made for a relaxing hike. We took turns photographing each other, it was our first time doing this kind of moody photo session.

I was a bit nervous and shy to get in front of the camera, since I am the one always behind it, lol. We were lucky that it was pretty much just us there ( some tourists showed up later) and when it was my turn to be photographed, it started to rain. The water was cold and the rocks slippery, but we were so excited and I just love the way that they turned out.
